Exploring Trion’s End of Nations for the PC

End of Nations is Trion World’s epic MMORTS set to come out sometime in 2011. Anarchy plagued the world after the economy collapsed but the superpower known as the Order of Nations restored peace through oppression. With every evil dictatorship, there will always be a group that will rise against evil, which is where you and thousands of other players come in.

While you will be able to play by yourself, it’s best to play with others, especially since the enemy has a massive amount of heavily fortified bases. MMOs are obviously very social games that typically have bad community support. With End of Nations, you’ll be able to see everything and anything your friends are doing like a feed on Facebook. This should prove to be incredible helpful especially since 50 players can do PvE battles while PvP will support around 20 versus 20 battles.

Your base of operation will also be an important part of the experience. This customizable home base will house all of your units and be where you will upgrade your units. The home base also acts as sort of a trophy room where you can show of your army to other players.

As for the combat, think any RTS military game but thrown into a MMO setting. I was only shown a small unit from one player, but I can only imagine just how crazy the map would look with a full team of 50 players. The graphics are rather gorgeous for an MMO too, with units and the environment being pretty detailed.

Combat isn’t as simple as just sending your units off in a hell of glory either. The rock, paper, scissor mentality exists and some enemy units have to be destroyed in specific ways in order to progress. Trion showed off an instance where the rebels had to get through a giant defense wall that was also home to a large offensive cannon. The only way of getting through the barrier was to attack it as it’s reloading since a section of the cannon is exposed with each reload.

All in all, End of Nations was looking pretty impressive. I’m not typically into MMOs, but this will be one exception for me thanks to the RTS element. In other news, I’m actually looking forward to an MMO. That’s a first.
