Excitebots sells a pathetic 13,000 copies in US

What a surprise. You get a genuinely original and fun looking title on the Wii and it sells like sh*t. Destructoid opinion of Excitebots: Trick Racing has been overwhelmingly positive, so it should be no shocker that the poor game has only managed to scrape 13,000 sales across the US. For a game that has Super Sandwiches in it, that’s more than sad. That’s a God damned tragedy.

Excitebots had everything going for it. It followed on from the considerably popular Excite Truck, it had plenty of kid-friendly appeal, and you could play as a robotic praying mantis. Those are three huge signals of success, but unfortunately the game has spluttered in the starting grid.

I’m beginning to think the general public just as an aversion to anything that isn’t crap. It’s as if videogames, music and TV shows require a minimum amount of garbage in order to be embraced by the masses. The Wii is slowly looking like a dead zone for quality games, through no fault of Nintendo or game developers. The mainstream mediocres want trash, and trash is all they’ll get.

Poor Excitebots.
