EVO 2012’s Indie Showcase includes SpyParty and more

Independent games are coming to EVO 2012! And, rather predictably, not everyone is cool with that fact. This year’s fighting game tournament will have an Indie Showcase with titles “chosen on the basis of their skill-based and competitive designs.” They’ll be playable on the show floor July 6 – 7.

The full line-up contains Aztez, BaraBariBall, Divekick, Nidhogg, SpyParty, Super Comboman, and Super Time Force. While I can see why certain fans don’t want the EVO they know and love to change, they really ought to play some of these games — or at least give them a cursory glance — before making a scene.

SpyParty, in particular, seems like a natural fit. If you’re not cool with that, fair enough — but other attendees might be, and none of this stuff is being forced upon you.
