The Keepsake Sea expansion

Most of the Showcase stream highlighted the upcoming The Keepsake Sea expansion, with a deeper dive into everything players can expect to see when it arrives. It also got an official release date, which is Nov. 18.

Here’s everything that was discussed in the Showcase stream for this DLC.

  • Five characters – The Keepsake Sea features an array of fresh faces for you to meet. This includes Captain Hook and Wendy from Peter Pan, Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Megara from Hercules, and Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
  • New type of villager – In addition to the main, fully fleshed-out characters you can unlock with this DLC, there’s also a new type of villager being introduced with this pack. These villagers function as a mix between standard villagers and Notable Companions. The base version of this pack includes Dory from Finding Nemo as a new ally you can find and meet. If you purchase the deluxe edition of this DLC, you can also meet Sebastian and Flounder from The Little Mermaid.

  • Mermaid form and underwater travel – The biggest gameplay feature this pack adds is the ability to transform into a mermaid and explore underwater areas using this new form. Your merfolk form is fully customizable with plenty to choose from, similar to how horses worked in the Wishblossom Ranch DLC. While in this form, you can traverse water anywhere in the valley, and even catch fish straight out of ripple spots you find without the need for your Royal Fishing Rod.
  • Customizable Pirate Ship – If you need a break from swimming underwater, you can also board your very own fully customizable Pirate Ship, another key feature in this pack. You can choose which villagers are part of your crew, customize your sails using Motifs, and fully decorate the captain’s cabin to your liking.
  • Three new island biomes – There are three new regions to explore in this DLC, which are Shipwreck Shores, Candy Cove, and a mysterious Kingdom area. All of these areas have traditional land regions as well as new underwater areas with plenty to explore under the sea.
  • Underwater decorating – Anywhere you can explore underwater, you can also decorate.

Ohana Holidays update

Lilo from Lilo & Stitch is finally making her way to the valley with the Ohana Holidays update, slated for arrival on Dec. 9, 2026. She and Stitch will get into all kinds of trouble upon reuniting in the village, and this update also includes a “special surprise” related to celebrating the holidays. A fresh Star Path event with a “quirky” take on the holiday season arrives with this update, too.

Early 2027 roadmap

The roadmap for the first part of 2027 was unveiled during the Showcase stream. This roadmap highlights the first three major updates of the year, with some teasers around the theme and characters included in each one.

  • Early 2027 – The first update of the year ushers in a “new era of royalty” with the arrival of two iconic princes. The image teaser for this section includes items from Cinderella and The Princess and the Frog, so this seems to confirm that Prince Charming and Prince Naveen will be arriving in the valley with this one.
  • Spring 2027 – The second big update of the year encourages players to “get [their] groove on” with the arrival of an “iconic villainous duo.” The image for this part includes decorations from The Emperor’s New Groove and Kronk’s famous spinach puffs. These clues seem to confirm that Yzma and Kronk from The Emperor’s New Groove will be arriving with the second update of the year.
  • Summer 2027 – The third update of the year says players will “realize the lifelong dream of an unexpected adventurer” and his beloved canine companion. It features an image of the vibrant house with balloons tied on top from the film Up. This seems to confirm the arrival of Dug from Up as a Notable Companion like Zero or Pluto, and either Carl Fredricksen or Russell to go with him.
