It’s unavoidable. When colleagues and friends run into me at industry events, the March 2011 Japan earthquakes and tsunamis are the first thing that comes up. I don’t mind, and it’s great to know that people were thinking about me while I was there.
This year’s Tokyo Game Show almost always follows that conversation. Are you going? Are you scared? Yes, I’m going. And you should too, I say. I’ve had some express concerns and others say that they’re not going to risk it this year. I get that. But I love TGS and I love Japan and I want to support both. I’m definitely going.
It looks all the game companies of the world are also going to TGS 2011. Except Nintendo, as usual. The CESA just released the current exhibitor list for the September show. We have 146 exhibitors so far, with 1,213 booth partitions planned for the floor. That’s a big show! This number includes 34 exhibitors coming overseas to Tokyo. The event expects around 190,000 visitors for the September 15-18 event. I do to. I hope that everyone comes out and supports gaming, TGS and Japan.
