Why does Spawn have a gun?

I don’t know half these characters, which is fine. I’m mostly perplexed as to why a bunch of these flamboyant, superhero-looking characters are carrying assault rifles. Why does Spawn need a gun? Lots of Deadpool takes, of course. Steam punk, hip hop. Look what you’ve done, internet. 

Anyways, one suggestion to these intrepid young folks. Yes, your cool pose is super cool, but maybe putting your hand on grimy convention center floor is a terrible idea.
