Pokémon Legends: Z-A is taking trainers back to the France-inspired Kalos region, the setting of 2013’s Pokémon X and Y. This pair of Pokémon titles introduced a healthy handful of creatures, locales, and mechanics that will return in Legends: Z-A, including the long-lost art of Mega Evolution.
Mega Evolution, which allows certain Pokémon to transform into more formidable versions of themselves, vanished from mainline Pokémon games after the 3DS era. However, Legends: Z-A‘s trailer confirmed that it’s finally making a comeback.
Every Mega-Evolved Pokémon seen in the Legends: Z-A so far

Arguably the biggest shake-up the Gen 6 Pokémon games brought to the table, Mega Evolution is a phenomenon that allows a small minority of Pokémon (mostly from Gen 1) to convert their bond with their trainers into raw energy through unique “Mega Stones,” allowing them to ascend to a more powerful form. Some lucky Pokémon even get two Mega Evolutions, like Charizard and Mewtwo.
A Pokémon that undergoes Mega Evolution receives a massive boost to its base stat totals and often gets new Types and Abilities, completely changing how it performs in battle. Unfortunately, Mega Evolution only lasts a single battle, and only one Pokémon on your team may Mega Evolve during said battle, so don’t get used to that fancy black-and-blue paint job your Charizard gets when it Mega Evolves.
Here are all the Mega Evolving Pokémon confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. I doubt these will be the only Mega Evolution-capable Pokémon that will show up, but these are the only ones we’ve seen in Legends: Z-a’s trailer and promotional materials.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A could introduce new Mega Evolutions

Pokémon fans have a well-documented habit of going a little coo-coo for Mega Evolutions. Let’s be honest with each other: we all have those Pokémon, that handful of Pocket Monsters we’ve always wanted to see get an epic new evolution. Mega Evolution fulfills that fantasy, and many in the community are already asking the big question on everyone’s minds: Will there be new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
Some are taking their speculation to the next level by creating Mega Evolutions for their favorite Pokémon. One of the best examples I’ve found comes from HertzBurst on Reddit. They made some outstanding concept art for potential Mega Evolutions of Slowking and Azumarril, complete with some official-quality artwork and custom-made in-game sprites.
Only time will tell if Pokémon Legends: Z-A will add any new Mega Evolutions to the pool. I’m especially interested to see how Mega Evolution will work in the game’s new mobility-based combat system. Power’s good and all, but it means nothing if your target runs circles around you like you’re the green in the middle of the running track.
