Evan Longoria owns Josh Beckett in the second MLB 2K9 teaser trailer

For this Major League Baseball 2K9 teaser trailer, 2K Sports put together an in-game version of the bottom of the first inning of Game 2 of the 2008 American League Championship Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays. After Rays first baseman Carlos Peña hit a two-out double to left-center field, third baseman Evan Longoria (no relation to Desperate Housewives hottie Eva Longoria-Parker) stepped into the box and took Red Sox starter Josh Beckett deep to left to tie the game at 2.

It always makes me happy to see something bad happen to the Red Sox, so I very much enjoyed this video. In case you’re curious, the Rays went on to win that game, 9-8, and the series in seven games; they ended up losing the World Series to the Philadelphia Phillies in five games. It’s something of an MLB 2K9 day on Destructoid — keep your eyes peeled for two more video posts coming later in the day. And if you want to check out the first teaser for the game, you can do so here.

Just like the video says, MLB 2K9 will hit stores in a few weeks on March 3rd for the PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PS2, and PSP.
