The Lands Afterwards

We all knew it was coming, it was always coming, and now we know, for sure, that it’s coming: Bandai Namco has revealed Shadow of the Erdtree, a DLC expansion for its critically acclaimed and multi-award winning fantasy adventure, Elden Ring. A release date was not announced.

Aside from a logo and a single image, developer FromSoftware is keeping tight-lipped regarding the new DLC and its contents. The concept art depicts a haunted plain from The Lands Between, occupied by what appears to be the ghostly gravestones of fallen warriors. A lone figure (Miquella?) rides across the landscape, seemingly headed toward a gnarled, towering tree, pictured far on the horizon.

It goes without saying that the Elden Ring DLC news will make the morning of many a video game fan. One of the most successful releases of 2022, Elden Ring would shift somewhere in the region of 20 million copies following its launch just over one year ago. The challenging adventure title would go on to win an array of Game of the Year plaudits, (including our own) and, as such, the player base will be ready and eager to head back into its epic world.

Elden Ring is available now on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
