I’m currently in Austin, Texas, location of the headquarters of Gamecock Media Group, and site of EIEIO 2008. The event is currently taking place at Austin’s famous Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, which contains a pretty open concert space, and God damn is it cold out here. Weather.com is currently reporting 37 degrees (feels like 30!), with light rain.
Granted, we were shown most of the games in closed-doors settings, and there are a number of large outdoor heaters spread about the venue. But I’m a girly-man, and I admit as much. So yeah, the games … sorry, can’t talk about ’em. Why? Blame the British press with their accents and their long flights, but game specific coverage is embargoed until next week.
I can talk about how cold it is, though, so I’ll continue to do so. It’s really cold, so I’m back at my hotel where I’m going to layer on every single piece of clothing I packed before I head back for this evening’s festivities (bands, food, drinks). I guess I can also take some pictures of some of the schwag I picked up at the event including: a shot glass, a bottle opener, and a single sock. Sounds like a good night to me.
Check back next week for details on the nine games I had a chance to check out today. In the meantime, if you’re in the Austin area, stop by Stubb’s and bring me a sweater. My skinny ass can’t take this for much longer.
