Echochrome getting sharing patch, Eye support

Recommended Videos

Sony Japan has announced a pretty major upgrade for the PlayStation 3 version of Echochrome, one that’s so big, we’re considering moving.

The patch adds a new public area where user created stages can be uploaded and shared; currently users must send levels to Sony who would then select some to release in packs.

PlayStation Eye support is also being added, which will allow users to film themselves while rotating a maze. Replays of mazes can be played with a picture-in-picture window, saved, and then uploaded to YouTube. Because watching video of Echochrome is lame; watching video of someone playing Echochrome is totally awesome.

The patch is scheduled to hit Japan on May 21, and we were just kidding about the moving thing. While it hasn’t been announced for North American release, we’re sure it’ll make its way here sooner or later. Like, maybe Thursday, May 21?
