EA : Xbox 360 is Army of Two’s leading platform, but don’t worry

EA is claiming that their upcoming game, Army of Two, will offer up an identical experience on both consoles, but I’m trying hard to suppress that uneasy feeling after learning that the Xbox 360 is the lead platform for the game. In an interview with Videogamer, assistant producer Matt Turner commented on the two versions:

“It’s been led on Xbox 360 and we put it on the PS3. It’s because we have more experience in that medium. The PS3 is fairly new with a lot of development stuff. But as far as the gameplay goes on both consoles it’s the same. There are no differences.”

Not to take anything away from the Xbox 360, but wasn’t it just last week that EA told us that they learned their lesson with Burnout Paradise? I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and surmise that Army of Two was deep in development by the time they figured out that it’s wiser to lead with the PS3 version if you want both platforms to have equal polish and quality. Does this mean that we can expect another so-so port on the PS3, or has EA finally come to grips with the hardware enough to cancel out the Xbox 360’s advantage? Sony sure hopes so.
