It seems like there have been rumors surrounding a future title in the Syndicate series forever. EA has thrown a fresh log into the fire of anticipation now by filing for three trademark registrations with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

The trademarks are typical in their inclusiveness. We have one for “video game software,” another for “entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game,” and the final filing mentions “board games” (be still my heart!) but is probably intended more towards, “hand held units for playing electronic games other than those adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor.”

Okay, Electronic Arts, it’s been long enough now. If you fail to deny that you are publishing a new Syndicate game, I’m just going to assume it’s the truth. Then I will be utterly devastated when you don’t bring one to market. You can make everyone in this situation happy by just admitting it, though. That would be swell. I promise I won’t even be mad when you inevitably reveal it to be a first-person bastardization of the game series I love. Please, just let me move on.
