EA: Dead Space 3 microtransaction workaround not a glitch

Publisher claims exploit was intentional

Electronic Arts claims that the infinite items exploit in Dead Space 3 is “not a glitch” and that the publisher has “no plans to issue a patch to change this aspect of the game.” Responding to a Forbes inquiry, an EA representative stated this was a deliberate move and that they “encourage players to explore the game and discover the areas where resources respawn for free.”

The assertion follows a string of bad press regarding the publisher’s decision to integrate a free-to-play model into their full retail product. Whether or not this is in fact a glitch, EA could probably stand to lose a few dollars from players who were unlikely to embrace these “in-app purchases” anyway. The publisher will make its money regardless, but at least this way it has some vague hope of gleaning a little customer goodwill from an otherwise overwhelmingly negative situation.
