EA Access is heading to PS4 in July

$29.99 a year

EA has announced that its “EA Access” subscription service will be heading to PS4 this July. Available on both Xbox One and PC (in different forms), EA Access allows users to access a wide range of EA titles available on their respective platforms for a monthly or yearly fee. On PS4, the service will be available for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year (same as Xbox One).

EA has not announced the list of titles that will be available for PS4 users when the service launches. As PS4 does not feature backward compatibility, the list will presumably be smaller than what is offered on Xbox One. It’s safe to assume that heavy hitters such as Madden and Battlefield will be playable, though.

Along with its library of older EA titles, Access comes with the “Play First Trials.” These trials provide limited access to the full version of newer games that EA has released. This is likely where Anthem and Battlefield V will end up, seeing as how they are currently available on Xbox One in the same capacity. EA Access subscribers do get a 10% discount on digital purchases of full titles, which also extends to expansions, in-game items, and microtransactions.

As much flak as EA may get, one cannot deny the value of the “Access” service. For a relatively small fee, you’re able to play a wide selection of the publisher’s largest games with no compromises. Maybe it doesn’t appeal to everyone, but fans of games like Madden and Battlefield would be silly to pass this opportunity up.
