E3: Ubisoft and Gibson announce $200 Rocksmith bundle

Recommended Videos

Today would have been the 96th birthday of Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar. Google is celebrating the occasion with one of its best “Google Doodles” ever, an interactive electric guitar playable in the G Major scale, while Ubisoft and Gibson have announced a partnership to bundle an Epiphone Les Paul Junior guitar with the videogame publisher’s guitar teaching software, Rocksmith.

The bundle, which will retail for $199.99, includes the game, the guitar, and a special 1/4″-to-USB cable that was developed specifically for Rocksmith. The cable allows you to plug any electric guitar into the game — it translates a guitar’s analog signal into a digital one that the software can read. For people who already have their own guitar, Ubisoft will also sell a game/cable bundle for $79.99.

Rocksmith is due out this fall for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. See its official website for more information.
