E3: Need for Speed: The Run takes the series on foot!

Yes, EA just announced the new Need for Speed: The Run at their E3 press conference. And, yes, the racing game looks incredible, featuring many of the same features as Hot Pursuit before it (like the wonderful AutoLog).

But in a first for the series, Need for Speed: The Run features segments that find the player getting out of the car and running around on foot.

In the trailer shown at the press conference, the driver is shown getting chased across a building after crashing his car. It looks to have racing controls, but with a person. Odd … but intriguing.

In adition to the running, there is also a bunch of QTEs that appear as the driver jumps and reaches for ledges and tries to escape his crashed car.

As a huge fan or the Need for Speed series, I am really excited for this game. Don’t know how the on foot segments will fit in with the racing game’s fast pacing, but I can’t wait to find out!
