E3 2007: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. not cancelled, only delayed

Man, here’s some great news for me. The new Nintendo IP that we heard about last year, Project H.A.M.M.E.R., was thought to be cancelled. Yet Advanced Media Network pulls through and in an interview with Beth Llewelyn of Nintendo, finds out that the series is only on hold.

AMN: Why are games like Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. not being shown?

Beth Llewelyn: We shifted development resources. However, Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in development and coming along nicely.

AMN: So is Project H.A.M.M.E.R. canceled?

Llewelyn: Development resources have been shifted for the time being, but it may come back. But right now, it’s not a focus of ours.

AMN: So it’s not currently in development? Is it on pause?

Llewelyn: Uh… probably… yeah. Again, we shifted our focus. Some games have shifted development resources.

AMN says that their full interview will be going up later today. Before, I chastised Nintendo for getting rid of new IPs like this, but to hear that it isn’t permanantly in the scrapyard is something that just makes my day. C’mon Nintendo, we don’t need you to put all your resources into Wii Fit.
