Flower. Love it or hate it, one thing is for sure, you either loved it, or you hated it — the true sign of an experimental game not afraid to take us to strange new places.

If these screenshots for thatgamecompany’s next PlayStation 3 title, Journey, are any indication — they have to be, right? — then we’re in for another treat. The kind of treat some of you will despise, and others will praise. Uh, Sour Patch Kids? I assume some people are turned off by the tongue-crushing taste. Not me!

Hopefully we’ll get to spend some intimate, in-person time with Journey this week. Just in case, here’s a little to go on: exploration will be done by way of walking, gliding, and flying, supposedly.

What sounds really cool is the online functionality, which lets players interact with “strangers who cross their path from time to time.” Perhaps not the best description ever, but you can see how this could potentially be neat in an exploration-based context. Sometime in 2011 is when this will be out.
