E3 10: Pokepark Wii Pikachu’s Adventure–Adorable!

Recommended Videos

This time, the word “adorable” is perfectly acceptable. Don’t question it. Once you experience the utter cuteness of Pokepark Wii Pikachu’s Adventure, the skies will part, the sun will shine, and rainbows will come shooting out from the horizon. Really. It just happened as I watched the video.

According to Nintendo, the game actually does have a storyline, but mostly me saying “aww” is all I think I’d be doing while playing. Pokepark begins with Mew summoning Pikachu to the Pokepark in order to find the missing Sky Prism Pieces, and ultimately save the day.

The game includes several interesting features, such as taking pictures of your favorite Pokemon and saving them to an optional SD card (Pokemon Snap! Anyone?). Mostly, gameplay seems to consist of a variety of mini-games and missions, with Pikachu teaming up with other Pokemon to complete Skill Games and Attractions. Pikachu can even become friends with fellow Pokemon by defeating them in the Skill Games, allowing the player to then play as as the new Pokemon in various Attractions.

Game controls are a mix of holding the Wiimote in the standard controller (read: sideways) position, and then using various motion controls to compete in the Skill Games and Attractions.

While I admit I may be a little too old for this particular Pokemon title, it still looks charming. Maybe you should pick it up…for your kid or younger sibling, that is.

Check out Nintendo’s site to see the game trailer, just make sure you do it where no one can see you squeal with delight.
