E3 10: Crysis 2 demo’d, getting the 3D treatment

Recommended Videos

Crytek showed up at EA’s press conference with — what else? — Crysis 2. This demonstration kicked off inside of a building where a small human resistance faced off against some sweet-looking aliens. Seriously, check the gallery to see these guys. Cool, huh?

Anyway, The Pinger, a two-legged mech thing, showed up to wreak havoc. Various machine guns, rockets, and even explosives like C4 were used on this vile contraption, but alas, it could not be stopped. Is it a persistent, nigh-unstoppable entity? I guess so.

Next, a neighboring skyscraper gets shot with a few energy blasts, and it begins to wobble. After jumping inside a Humvee and getting outside, a dramatic scene in which a man attempts to save a woman nearby but doesn’t quite make it out before the building collapses is played.

The demo ends, and stereoscopic 3D in Crysis 2 is confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. A new trailer is shown, and it’s clearly meant to be watched in 3D. As such, I kept saying to myself, “Huh, that would have looked neat in 3D. That too! And that!” But it didn’t.
