Sure, Criterion’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was just reveled a few short days ago at E3, but I’m already looking towards the future. So is the developer, it seems.

When asked if it would support Hot Pursuit with post-launch downloadable content in similar manner to its previous racer, Burnout Paradise, Criterion wasn’t ready to make any announcements. But it doesn’t seem like the post-release longevity of the title will be in question.

“I think given the fact that [at] Criterion Games we’re always interested in, as we already talked about, the game being very connected,” creative director Craig Sullivan told me. “I’d be very surprised if we didn’t do something like that.”

“Yeah, I don’t think we’re going to be talking any details,” added Criterion’s Matt Webster, “but we like to be able to change [our] games post launch.”

Following its release, Burnout: Paradise received several major game updates, many of them free of charge. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is out this November.
