E3 10: Browsing through Battlestar Galactica Online

Recommended Videos

For fans of the Battlestar Galactica, the frakkin universe of polygamist, polytheistic humans versus the monotheistic robotic Cylons is a clusterfrak of frakkin proportions. Now that the show ended and the spin-off, Caprica, is doing so well, what can fans of the franchise look forward to? Well, Bigpoint, SyFy and NBC Universal have something in store.

How about a free-to-play browser game? Yeah, yeah, we all know that F2P games have not done so well, but developer Bigpoint, who has plenty of experience doing browser based MMOs, and this one is special in that this is a very good looking game. Maybe it’s because of the Unity Tech, the engine that pushes out some really fantastic graphics. Take a look at the screen shots: that’s in-game on Chrome. And since this is based on a popular IP, it’s already leaps beyond most other F2P games, at least in accessibility.

Graphics alone mean a lot, and the team is clearly proud of what they are pulling off. Seriously, this isn’t some Zynga title. Players will have the option to choose to be Cylon or Human, and after creating an avatar, they will receive a ship and rock on from there. I was shown some mining elements to gain all the resources needed for life support, transport, and more. It seems like typical stuff for a space ship based MMO. However, that ends all that I saw. Big Point is preparing for the proper unveiling of the title at Comic Con, so fans who want more will have that to look forward to. Frak yeah.
