In this morning’s Sony press conference here at E3 2009, a lot of the excitement surrounded the announcement of the PSP Go and its design and online features and capabilities, but an interesting change on the developer side of things was mentioned Kaz Hirai’s presentation.
With the new 16GB of built in flash memory and downloadable games library, it seems that Sony is going for something similar to the Apple App Store. But, to compare, they’ll need a lot more titles for consumers to download. Maybe that’s why Hirai mentioned that Sony would cut the cost of the PSP development tools by 80 percent today. Surely his goal is to kickstart PSP development, making it easier for developers to jump onboard and get to cranking out games.
Get to work, devs!
