E3 09: Raven Squad still exists, pics prove it

If you don’t remember anything about SouthPeak Games and Atomic Motion’s Raven Squad, don’t feel bad, as we haven’t heard anything about it since I brought it to your attention nearly a year ago.

For those unaware — or that had almost forgotten like I had — Raven Squad is a game that combines first-person shooting with real-time strategy. Players will a take control of a mercenary squad fighting enemies in the South American rainforest, and be able to switch between its members at will. This is a necessity, as each squad member has different abilities weapons and abilities. Along with that, players can also open a strategic screen to issue commands to the entire squad.

So what exactly has Atomic Motion been doing to Raven Squad this last year? Aside from cutting down the available squad members from eight to six, the big news is that they’ve added two-player online co-op, which should make managing battles a bit easier.

Overall, the concept sounds promising; especially to someone like me who loves both genres quite a bit. I guess we’ll just have to see how Raven Squad turns out when it releases this fall on the PC and Xbox 360.
