E3 09: First look at The Beatles Rock Band with your eyes

Recommended Videos

It was hard for me to not make some kind of “Magical Mystery Tour” reference in the title of this post, because that’s exactly what The Beatles Rock Band seems to be.

Mysterious in that, despite the fact that it’s been announced, what the game looks like has been kept under wraps for quite some time. Magical, because seeing these first screens of the game in action you see the amazing way in which Harmonix has captured the Fab Four digitally. The “tour” comes into play because based on what we saw at Microsoft’s press conference today, the game will indeed capture the band through it’s startling progression throughout the years.

Let’s face it — this looks like Rock Band… skinned for The Beatles. But it’s definitely an impressive skin to say the least, with a bright, colorful look that seems to embody the band’s career. On top of that, it seems the rumor of harmonies was correct with one small difference — it’s three part harmonies, not two. You can see in the screens that each of the vocalists has his or her own meter (right below the vocal track).

How all of this will work we’ll find out later this week, along with any other not-immediately-obvious differences. In the meantime check out the first screens, and the full trailer for the game at the game’s official page. After the jump, you’ll find a list of the game’s first confirmed tracks along with some of the legendary venues that will appear in the game.
