E3 08: A new Pikmin is in the works, says Miyamoto

Recommended Videos

In an E3 question and answer roundtable just a few hours ago, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that he is currently working on a new Pikmin game, presumably for the Wii.

When asked about “core titles” and whether he would be interested in ever making another Pikmin game, Miyamoto laughed and then addressed the inquiry. Avoiding a direct answer at first and questioning what a “core title” truly is, Miyamoto then suddenly, and unexpectedly, gave an honest response:

We’re making Pikmin.

The crowd at the roundtable laughed, which is an odd reaction, since I would have most likely jumped up and down and ripped off my shirt. (As you can tell, I am a huge Pikmin fan and was actually hoping for a Pikmin 3 announcement at the Nintendo press conference more than anything.)

So, it looks like it is official: a new Pikmin is coming! WOO HOO! First I get to actually meet Miyamoto (one of my heroes) and now this? Today is easily the best day EVER!
