We hardly knew ye
Destiny players have gone four months now without the comforting tedium of the loot cave — a dark abyss that would yield decent gear drops in return for shooting at it for hours on end. Understandably, Bungie said that’s “not its dream for how Destiny is played.”
Well, there’s a new first-person shooter on the market that offers a loot cave: Dying Light. Although, this take is more of a friendly jab than anything.
A player posted on reddit that he found a cave in the upper-right portion of Dying Light‘s map. Upon wandering inside, a message popped up that said “Your destiny is to build your legend (and get loot).” Then, swarms of zombies spawn until the game eventually says “Enough! Patch 1.0.2 is released! Do more quests!”
It’s not exactly the second coming of the loot cave, but it’s an interesting homage. A video’s already appeared online, but it’s only the first few seconds. It shows up at the 1:35 mark. Then, the video fades away, much like the loot cave’s unceremonious exit from so many people’s lives.
