Dtoid TV Weekend: Sweet with Syrup

This weekend on Dtoid TV, we’re going to be playing a whole lot of games and I do hope you’ll watch us play them. I’m going to kick things off on the channel by playing a little Steambot Chronicles right now. Phil will be continuing his run of the entire Dead Rising series, shenanigans are likely to ensue when Johnny Luchador returns to The Sims 3, and Holmes will be interviewing the creative geniuses behind Guacamelee.

But if you have some time this weekend during one of the gaps between our shows (because, really, who would skip one of those?), I’d highly recommend you watch a movie called Syrup. It’s based on the novel of same name by Max Barry (one of my favorites) and, while it isn’t quite the same story on the silver screen, the message rings just as true: Marketing is everything and everything is marketing. It’s available on-demand through Amazon ahead of its theatrical release next week.

Check out our full schedule for the weekend:

All times are Pacific

SATURDAY

10am – Saturday Morning Hangover
Conrad’s all by his lonesome, so he’s dispensing with the formalities and just playing Steambot Chronicles.

[Ease the pain from the night before with a little schadenfreude brought to you by Destructoid’s Conrad Zimmerman, Jordan Devore and the lovely Katrina.]

12pm – Weekend Escape
Superhero hijinks will abound with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

[Hang out with Destructoid Contributors Brett Zeidler and Caitlin Cooke as they play through entire games with a focus on co-op. It’s a safe bet that Caitlin is probably going to get mad at Brett for everything at some point.]

4pm – Chill with Phil
An unstoppable juggernaut of zombie carnage, Phil will breeze through Dead Rising: Case Zero before launching into Dead Rising 2.

[Philanthr0py hosts this relaxed show in which he performs full game (and series) playthroughs.]

8pm – Substituted Reality
AwDamn will perform the only acceptable form of drinking and driving with Need 4 Speed: Most Wanted

[Destructoid’s only PC-exclusive gaming show, Substituted Reality showcases a wide variety of games with a particular focus on first-person shooters. Hosted by the lovely, off-beat, AwDamn.]

SUNDAY

1pm – Sup, Holmes?
Come hang out and join in on the conversation as Jonathan Holmes interviews amazing people from all sides of the gaming industry. This week, he will be joined by Graham Smith and Chris McQuinn from Drinkbox Studios (Guacamelee)

[Join Destructoid’s most lovable Associate Editor, Jonathan Holmes, for interviews with his friends in the game industry. Participate in the live chat and get your questions answered]

4pm – Rad Show: Get There!
The mighty Boglin King rains whatever it is a Boglin King rains upon the unsuspecting world of The Sims 3.

[Starring Johnny Luchador, Super Fantastic Videogame Rad Show: Get There! takes a lighthearted approach to gaming, with the guys usually focusing more on breaking games for ridiculous results than accomplishing feats of skill.]

8pm – Substituted Reality
AwDamn returns to finish what he started in Call of Duty 2

[Destructoid’s only PC-exclusive gaming show, Substituted Reality showcases a wide variety of games with a particular focus on first-person shooters. Hosted by the lovely, off-beat, AwDamn.]
