Yuji Horii is always at the forefront of some awesome Dragon Quest news, and this time he’s back with an update we can all sink our teeth into: Dragon Quest XI is in development, and will be making its way to consoles in the near future.

Horii revealed this news to Japanese radio show Mangaku N Channel SP, after avoiding the topic in several interviews and promotional talks before. During the radio interview, Horii let slip that they’re currently developing Dragon Quest XI as the franchise rounds the corner to its 30th anniversary in 2016.

Horii also mentioned that while the game won’t be available for mobile devices, it’s also not being made for handhelds. That’s where the home console news comes in, although he didn’t exactly specify which or when we may be able to see the game at long last. Whenever it’s headed for a release, however, you can bet we’ll be siphoning more news out of the Dragon Quest pipeline soon enough.
