Dragon Quest creator hints at series return to PlayStation

E3? TGS?

Dragon Quest Heroes is a thing that’s coming west this year and Dragon Quest Heroes 2 has already been announced, but what about an actual, numbered entry? How about the first on a PlayStation Console since Dragon Quest VIII (recently announced for 3DS), over 10 years ago?

Speaking with Korean site Ruliweb (via Hachima Kikou), Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii was asked about a series return to PlayStation consoles, to which he responded, “While I can’t say anything about it for now, we just may announce something about that in the near future.”

Given that Dragon Quest XI was confirmed in development for consoles (not handhelds) last year and that next year is the series’ 30th anniversary, could be that a big Dragon Quest XI announcement comes at one of the year’s big shows (E3, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show).

Or maybe it has to do with Dragon Quest X producer Yosuke Saito wanting the game on PlayStation 4. Or both?
