Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has a huge roster, with plenty of Gokus and Vegetas

Oops, all Saiyans.

The Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster is so big that it looks like a custom MUGEN game. In a recent trailer featuring Goku and Vegeta, the ending shot showed what looks like a massive roster screen, with 164 slots.

If the final game truly fills out that screen, then we’d be looking at a fighter count that could exceed even Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with 24 different varieties of Goku and Vegeta so far.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster looks wild, but…

Despite the 164-character roster looking huge, you have to consider the multiple forms that Goku and Vegeta can take. These are all the forms that the two Saiyans transform into:

  • Goku (Z – Early)
  • Goku (Z – Mid)
  • Goku (Z – Mid), Super Saiyan
  • Goku (Z – End)
  • Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan
  • Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan 2
  • Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan 3
  • Goku (Super)
  • Goku (Z – Mid), Super Saiyan
  • Goku (Super), Super Saiyan God
  • Goku (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan
  • Vegeta (Z – Scouter)
  • Great Ape Vegeta
  • Vegeta (Z – Early)
  • Vegeta (Z – Early), Super Saiyan
  • Super Vegeta
  • Vegeta (Z – End)
  • Vegeta (Z – End), Super Saiyan
  • Vegeta (Z – End), Super Saiyan 2
  • Majin Vegeta
  • Vegeta (Super)
  • Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan
  • Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan God
  • Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

That’s quite a lot of different versions of just two characters. It doesn’t even include their Dragon Ball GT forms or their fusions, like Vegito and Gogeta, so there could be more.

Other characters have been shown too, such as the fan-favorite Android 18, Piccolo, and even Hercule. Villains like Cell and Majin Buu are included as well.

The Dragon Ball series of fighting games has a legacy of long-ongoing DLC support. For example, The Hero of Justice Pack 2 for Xenoverse 2 launched more than six years after the game’s initial release. It’s easy to think that even this 164-fighter roster isn’t the limit.

We don’t know when we’ll be able to play all 164 characters as Bandai Namco hasn’t revealed a release date or window for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Hopefully, it will travel by Nimbus Cloud this year to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
