Double-barrel blasted that requirement into a shallow grave

Three weeks ago, Bethesda released a trio of classic Doom games on modern consoles without any prior warning. It should’ve been a joyous occasion. Alas, it was not. People roasted Bethesda to hell and back for including a mandatory login to a bethesda.net account for the games to be functional.

That is now gone, as Bethesda has, at long last, patched out this misguided requirement in Doom and Doom II. The prompt still appears, but Bethesda has added the option to bypass entering an email address. Additionally, there’s no more disconnection notification while playing. It seems as though these 25-year-old games are finally fixed!
