Don’t expect another E3 presser from Bethesda next year

‘It felt like the right time’

Bethesda kicked off E3 2015 a day earlier than usual this year, but don’t expect it to become tradition. The publisher’s Hollywood spectacle was well-received, and that alone would coax some companies into making it an annual occurrence. Bethesda’s showing more restraint than that.

According to Pete Hines, Bethesda’s well-known VP of marketing and PR, this year’s press conference only happened because “it felt like the right time.” In an interview with The Telegraph, he said “I don’t know if we’ll do one next year. I don’t know if we’ll do one again.”

To be fair, the stars did align for the Maryland-based publisher; Bethesda had seven titles to talk about in some capacity, including highly anticipated games like Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, and Doom. It’s unlikely that it’ll have that kind of lineup again in the near future, especially given its reputation for taking its time developing games.

However, for anyone who likes the idea of E3 beginning on Sunday night, you probably don’t have much to worry about. Even if Bethesda doesn’t step back up to the plate, it’s plausible that another company will be eager to grab that spotlight. Having the attention of the entire gaming community is certainly an attractive prospect.
