Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is going to be $60 on Switch

Cranky?

Because Nintendo charged $60 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it stands to reason that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, with the addition of the “Funky mode,” would probably be priced in that same neighborhood. Well, Nintendo confirmed that inkling this week by opening up the retailer pre-order section of the official game’s listing, which denotes a pricepoint of $60.

The difference is of course we knew what Deluxe was giving us as the two DLC packs were previously available on Wii U (with extra content to boot), and we have no idea how Funky Mode is going to play out, or what extra content Tropical Freeze actually has.

While some people may respond to this news as “duh,” there were a fair bit of folks I spoke to that held out hope (cue laughing .gif reactions in the comments) that Nintendo would cut the price of these Wii U to Switch ports a bit — but in this case, no dice. While Tropical Freeze is one of the best platformers Nintendo has put out in a long while, this is probably going to be a hard sell for a lot of you out there.

As a commenter has pointed out it went for $49.99 on Wii U at launch, so Nintendo is actually charging more for the Switch port four years later.
