Does Snake need a modern-day sequel?

I’m gonna go with ‘no’

The guy who brought Snake to Nokia phones in the late ’90s, Taneli Armanto, has been working on a free-to-play reboot of the classic game called Snake Rewind. It’s releasing next Thursday for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

The basic eat-fruit-to-grow concept remains, except now there’s power-ups like a magnet and score multiplier. Also, yes, you can rewind. The game has 10 levels, all of which have a specific style and sound (some more retro than others), as well as challenges to complete.

According to developer Rumilus Design, there is a “Fruit Store where boosters and items can be upgraded and purchased, using fruit that you collect while playing.” Not that it even needs to be said, but Snake Rewind will have in-app purchases. Maybe you won’t need them.

On the other side of the spectrum, there’s #Snake2. It’s got a lightsaber-wielding butt.
