Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy is coming to Blu-ray

And the Japanese have no idea how to price Blu-ray products

If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy music, it’s likely you’ve heard of the Distant Worlds global tour. Several CD and DVD collections have been released over the years, but Square Enix is putting together a special Blu-ray collection containing live video recordings of many of the fantastic arrangements from the Final Fantasy Orchestral Album (including “The Dreadful Fight” from Final Fantasy IV, “The Mystic Forest” from VI, “The Dalmasca Eastersand” from XII, and Crystal Kay’s version of “Eyes on Me”).

The only problem? The Blu-ray collection will set you back 6,190 Yen ($60.31). I’m not sure why, but all Blu-ray products in Japan cost about this much. Anyway, it’s out on June 26, 2013 and can be pre-ordered from CD Japan if you’re still interested. I certainly am as the Final Fantasy Orchestral Album was one of the best things released last year.

Let us know what you think of the Distant Worlds tour and the new arrangements if you’ve heard them. And why are Blu-ray products so expensive in Japan?
