Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy is a whole new concert

New arrangements played at San Diego Comic Con

We’ve covered the Distant Worlds concert series extensively over the years, but after seeing last night’s stop in San Diego for Comic Con, I think it’s fair to say that this is an entirely new show with tons of new arrangements. You may want to reference our reviews of the Final Fantasy Orchestra Album and Distant Worlds: The Celebration Blu-ray releases to see where they’re drawing the new pieces from, but here’s your chance to hear them live.

Fans love anything that has to do with chocobos and Final Fantasy VII, and thankfully there’s plenty of both to go around. The new chocobo medley includes an amazing “Pulse de Chocobo” from FFXIII, while there’s a great battle medley featuring the FFVII battle theme, “Those who Fight.” My personal favorites were “Battle with the Four Fiends” from FFIV, “Phantom Forest” from FFVI, and “Dalmascan Eastersand” from FFXII, although the new and revamped opera scene from FFVI, with added narration, was highly entertaining, even with the pauses made for the nearby fireworks extravaganza (thanks, Comic Con!).

Hit up a stop near you (they’re taking this show across the globe now), and let us know what you think of the new arrangements.
