Disney revealing new Infinity initiative next month

What can it be?!

We received a super fancy invite from Disney today inviting us to the unveiling of the Disney Infinity initiative. The event will be taking place on January 15, and will see Disney co-president, John Pleasants, plus Disney and Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter unveiling this new project to the press.

Why is this a big deal? Well for starters, the invite came on a lenticular card which is almost as fancy as the time a guy dressed up as a Roman soldier came to our offices to invite us to a GDC party (true story.) But more importantly, word on the Internet streets is that this will be the official reveal of the “Toy Box” project that John Pleasants revealed to the New York Times recently. Toy Box was described as a console game with “extensive mobile and online applications in which various Pixar and Disney characters will interact with one another for the first time.” It’s also rumored that this will be “adopting” Activision’s Skylanders system of toy integration, merging toys and games together.

We’ll know more in January what this is all about.
