No rest for the weary

Billie Lurk is tough as nails. She’s appeared throughout the Dishonored games, always dedicated to her mission and prepared to do whatever it takes to get a job done. Her work as an assassin has led her places many could never imagine, but in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Billie Lurk’s final task is nearly unfathomable. She’s going to kill a mischievous god.

The latest Death of the Outsider trailer hones in on Billie’s unique supernatural abilities and combat prowess. Like Corvo, Emily, and her one-time partner in crime Daud, she’s an agile and capable killer. Lurk can leap from the shadows and slash her foes’ throats without a second thought and fire wrist-mounted arrows with pinpoint precision, among other skills, but it will take more than a few well-timed strikes to kill the Outsider.

Some narrative tidbits are floating about in the gameplay trailer. Billie’s strained relationship with Daud gets dredged up, as the Outsider-touched killer asks for her help on a seemingly impossible mission. Daud, with Billie by her side once again, is hell-bent on taking down the mysterious and strangely alluring god, and he seems convinced that his partner is the right assassin for the job.

It all comes together in a way that invites and excites. The promise of a game centered on a quest to kill the Dishonored series’ most intriguing character is difficult to ignore. The above trailer makes it more than clear that Billie Lurk is no slouch, but damn, putting a god six feet under sounds like a tall order.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is set to release on September 15, 2017. You can walk a few miles in Billie’s shoes on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
