Did You Know Gaming takes on religion in the Mario series

Interesting stuff

Japanese media is no stranger to religious references, with many creators inserting them for no reason other than looking “cool.” In this episode of Did You Know Gaming, we get to see a few of those concepts as they pertain to the Mario series.

References to demons and devils [akuma] are par for the course for many Japanese games, but it’s interesting to see all of the angelic and heavenly portions, and some sections based on historical texts.

I’ll probably never get tired of Faustian bargain stories.
