Diablo III auction house exploiters are being ‘audited’

Auction House to remain offline for at least another day

Let’s take a quick jaunt through the recent timeline of this Diablo III “Gold-gate” crisis. First, patch 1.0.8 goes live, brought into the world as an innocent, doe-eyed update aimed at improving cooperative play. However, turmoil strikes when a gold-duplicating bug is discovered. Oh no! The auction houses are quickly taken down in an attempt to save an already troubled economy.

Now, as Act 3 of this tragic comedy opens, Blizzard has announced that it is performing “a complete audit and [focusing] on the few players that exploited this bug rather than performing a full rollback and taking everyone offline.”

So no global rollbacks, but the “few” who took advantage are going under Blizzard’s microscope and will hopefully be punished. I still have my doubts that only a few people took advantage of this, so I shall remain skeptical of that amount until Blizzard releases some hard numbers.

The auction houses will remain offline for an undetermined amount of time, but any and all information should be updated in this forum thread.
