Devil May Cry creator doesn’t like new Dante very much

Arguably the biggest story of yesterday was Ninja Theory’s take on the Devil May Cry franchise, DmC. The new Dante was a huge bone of contention, upsetting many fans and starting fires across the Internet. It would appear that the dissenters have themselves an ally, however, in the form of original franchise creator Hideki Kamiya.

“I miss him, too,” said Kamiya when a fan told him that he missed the old Dante. “… I’ve been sad since Dante left me.”

His entire attitude toward Ninja Theory’s DmC appears to be very sour and maybe even a little bitter. The Platinum Games director simply said “Whatever” when asked whether he thought Ninja Theory could evolve the franchise and build upon what Kamiya made with Bayonetta. His contempt seems to have been made clear.

Every now and then, Kamiya appears to be pretty resentful about his old Capcom projects, and he’s given a solid impression that he’s not too fond at all of this one. Personally, I still think it looks pretty badass and can’t wait to try it, but that’s just me.
