Details and screens for Hero For 30sec are pretty heroic

The PSP could always use new and interesting software, and every now and then it gets some. Reintroducing Hero For 30sec, a game all about being a hero … for thirty seconds.

Four new gameplay modes have been announced for what is known in Japan as Yuusha 30, the biggest of which is Hero Mode. In Hero Mode, you have to slay the Demon King, which is done in the usual RPG manner — slaying monsters, leveling up, and buying equipment. You are constantly timed during the mode’s various missions by a countdown clock.

The other modes aren’t quite as deep, but center around quickfire RPG gameplay. Princess Mode sees soldiers carrying a princess around while bombarded with arrows and with thirty seconds to complete a specific task. Knight and Wizard Mode charges players with the task of eliminating all the monsters within thirty seconds, the knight protecting the vulnerable but destructive wizard.

Finally, Devil King Mode reverses the roles, as players eliminate the heroes by summoning monsters for — you guessed it — thirty seconds.

A fifth gameplay mode hasn’t officially been announced, but we know that multiplayer is forthcoming, so that could be it. Up to four players are supported and I am vaguely intrigued by what this one has to offer.
