Destroy All Humans PS3 canceled in America, not canceled in Europe

Here’s a weird one for you. It would seem that the upcoming Destroy All Humans sequel, Path of the Furon, had its PlayStation 3 release canceled very recently. However, THQ has today confirmed that the game will indeed go ahead on Blu-ray … just not in North America.

THQ supposedly blamed “development issues” on the PS3 version’s cancellation. If that’s the case, why no PlayStation 3 release in America? THQ explains:

Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe. Due to the game being shipped earlier in North America on 2nd December a decision was made to proceed exclusively with the Xbox 360 format in that market.”

That seems very odd, doesn’t it? Why not just delay the PS3 version rather than make it a 360 exclusive in America? There seems to be no logic to this move, outside of abject laziness. One can only assume that a PS3 version will hit the US eventually, but until then, Blu-ray fans will have to look elsewhere.
