Demon’s Souls sells big, triple what Atlus expected

In October you couldn’t glance at your social media feeds and not read some sweet and sappy gamer poetry about Atlus Ltd’s Demon’s Souls. Unlike other small releases, it appears as if the game’s sales matched with the buzz.

Atlus’ parent company Index Holding’s has posted current sales figures of the studio’s products, and in the process, has revealed that the PS3-exclusive rogue-like has wildly outperformed sales expectations by triple.

According to the data (via Siliconera), Atlus believed the game would sell 75, 000 units in North America. It ended up selling 280,000 by February 28th, 2010. It probably chewed up and spit out 270,000 of those owners.
