Defiance launches April 2, TV series on April 15

Trying to wash the word “transmedia” out of my mouth

Defiance — one-part Trion Worlds MMO, one part SyFy TV series — will launch in April. A.K.A. a month that investors are really hoping Breaking Bad and Grand Theft Auto V don’t share.

The standard release for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 is priced at $59.99. There will also be a Collectors edition and limited Ultimate edition (no price tags on those yet).

I visited the set of the TV show and played the game, last fall, coming away impressed more by the grand ambitions of its creators than the quality of the project (in its early state). Only time will tell if both sides of the project succeed in-tandem, individually, or if one drags the other down. Even if it’s not a very exciting show to watch or game to play, I still plan to watch how this lofty project pans out.

On a positive note, reception was fairly good for the beta that launched earlier this month. Keep an eye turned to Destructoid, as we may have more codes for the upcoming February beta.
