Deep Black isn’t the name of raunchy movie; it’s a new third-person shooter from 505 Games and Russian developer Biart Studio. It takes underwater, clearly, in a world where secret oceanic bases and high-tech spider mechs are plentiful.

It’s said to combine “science-fiction mystery, espionage, and bio-terror” — are we as a civilization prepared for such a narrative? We have until the first quarter of next year, when Deep Black releases for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, to get ready.

I feel like I should point out Biart’s last major game was an underwater hunting simulator known simply as Spearfishing. Yep. Seems like they’re applying the technology used there to Deep Black. The setting is relatively untapped, which is probably the best compliment I can give at this point.
