(In honor of the upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive I shall deliver all the news this weekend twice: First the sane way, and then the fear way. It’s the weekend, I get to do stuff like this (I hope… please don’t fire me).
Sane: Microsoft is poising Kinect to be huge, and Hudson, who scored a surprise hit on the Wii with their Deca Sports franchise, isn’t going to let another prime opportunity to make more money off of mediocore sports games pass them by. So we receive Deca Sports Freedom, an exclusive for Kinect, which looks a lot like the Wii version of the game.
From the trailer it definitely looks like the kind of stuff that appeals to the target demo of Kinect so if the new “controller” sells well then I’m guessing this one could have some legs as well. I’m not that excited for it since it clearly isn’t geared towards the hardcore, but someone out there could probably have some fun with it.
Fear: It’s over, man. We’ve been predicting the downfall of hardcore gaming since the mid-80s, but that trailer clearly shows that it’s finally happened. Games are no longer meant for us hardcore gamers and the entire industry has forsaken us. Even indie developers will start going where the money is, I promise you. The end isn’t nigh, it’s here.
