Ron Gilbert won’t be sticking around the Hothead offices long enough to see his latest game, the supposed “Monkey Island meets Diablo” action-RPG Deathspank, to certification. Gilbert announced on his blog that he has “left” Hothead. “I wanted to let all the Premium Gold Level Grumpy Gamer subscribers know that I left Hothead,” he said, before adding that his goal was to make a Nobel prize-winning title.

Gilbert didn’t comment on why he left Hothead, or if he has another project in the works, but the creator does have plans to be a part of the marketing for Deathspank, which is still due for release at some point in 2010 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and [REDACTED].
